2kyov at Grand Teton National Park entry

We are a German couple living in Kentucky since 2006. Our passions are traveling, hiking, running, kayaking and any other type of adventures activities. In our blogs (2kyov and Late-Runners) we want to invite you to follow us on our adventures throughout this beautiful country.

The two of us met in the late 1980s, in a small town in Germany. Ever since we are traveling, hiking and exploring together. In the beginning we mainly stayed on the European continent with Austria and Spain being the focus of our travels. At the end of 2000 we made our first joined trip to the United States. We fell madly in love with the wide open spaces of the South West and in general with the nature we found and people we met in the US. Ever since we have been using every opportunity to travel throughout this country and explore the sides of the National and State Park systems. Side note, the National and State Park system in the US is a real treasure no other country can offer in the same way. It makes it possible to safeguard some of the most beautiful pieces of nature and culture, while allowing the people to experience it at the same time.

Our passion for the beauty of American outdoors has not waned over time. Every year we are eager to get on the road and spend several weeks exploring the most beautiful places this country has to offer. On those trips we have already seen a good number of the 423 National Park units including places like Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Grand Canyon, and Yosemite NPs, just to name a few. We also enjoyed beautiful state parks as Custer State Park in SD and Natural Bridge State Park in KY. We invite you to experience these places through our eyes and want to share with you our love for the beauty of this planet and our passion for living on it.

Our other passion is running and it is the result of a major lifestyle change we were able to make in 2018, when we were finally able to shad our nasty habit of smoking. At this time we were looking for a different outlet to counter the side effects of quitting cold turkey and to improve our health in general. That's when we began running through our neighborhood. As of now, we were able to finish several Half-Marathon's, and ran several, often fun 5k races per year. We were also able to run over frozen boardwalks in Yellowstone, meet a bear while running in the Teton's, and had to make space for an elk cow at the Grand Canyon South Rim. Feel free to read our running blog for more details.

So that's us. Come and join us on our journeys.
